TGIFF - Letter A

Welcome to Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday, once again being hosted here in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada.  This is your opportunity to showcase your finishes from this week and to see what other great projects have been created.

I finished my letter A.  This is my October OMG goal and a FAL Q4 goal.  It finishes around 15 inches.  This was my first attempt at big stitch quilting with perle cotton.

I don't think I bought the right perle cotton -- it seems too thick.  I definitely need to work on consistency with my stitches, but I did enjoy it enough to give it another try.

I think this will be a wall hanging for my new niece -- we share the same initials.

Now it's time for you to link up your finishes.  Link up your blog post showing off your finished project using the linkup below.  Don't forget to visit a few blogs to spread some quilty love and encouragement.  Please include a link and/or the TGIFF button in your blog post so your followers can also view all the great finishes.

TGIFF - Little Geranium Dress

Welcome to Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday being hosted here in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada.  TGIFF is a great chance to showcase your finishes from this week and to see what other great projects have been created.

My new one-month old niece is tiny and doesn't have any cute clothes because everyone bought larger sizes.  So I thought I'd try making a dress.  The Little Geranium Dress is a free pattern by Made by Rae.  I got stumped after I got to this point.  But once Jenn @ A Quarter Inch From the Edge showed me what to do, it all made sense.

And voilà...a finished dress.

It's hard to photograph a dress without a model, so I have a book inside it holding it up.  I can't imagine what she would need pockets for at this young age, but they are so cute.

Here's the back view.  I need to match the thread better next time.

Quilt Along Updates

I forgot to show you September's HST's for Magnolia Mystery QAL hosted by Cheryl @ Meadow Mist Designs.  October's instructions were/are half geese units.

I'm also playing along with the Wayward Transparency QAL hosted by Yvonne @ Quilting Jetgirl.  Kona Ice Frappe, Kale, and Spruce.

And just because I don't have enough projects to keep me busy (ha ha ha), I'm joining in the Splash of Colour QAL hosted by Myra @ Busy Hands Quilts.  I'll be using Kona White and Black, with a splash of Kona Orange.

I've had this pattern on my to-do list for a while, so this is a great opportunity to actually make it.

It's not too late to play along with any of the QALs.

TGIFF - Faith, Hope, Love

Welcome to Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday!  And Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving!!

I had the pleasure of testing a pattern for Karen @ Sugar Free Quilts.  I tested the traditional piecing pattern -- there will also be a paper pieced version.

Some of the pieces were small, but I kept going...and then there were two words.

And finally all three words.  A few of my letters turned out a bit wonky -- but who wants straight letters anyway.  LOL

And then as usual...the tough decision on how to quilt.  Since I finished this on a Saturday and needed to quilt it Sunday morning for a bridal shower at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.....organic wavy lines.

October OMG and FAL Q4 Goals

It's time again to set some goals.  I like participating with OMG and Finish Along 2017 as it's a good way to be "accountable" to finishing up WIP's.

My October OMG is to finish this Letter A wall hanging I created using Jaybird Quilts' new book -- Alphabet Soup.  I am going to challenge myself to do a little bit of hand quilting with perle cotton.

I have four goals for FAL Q4:

1.  Letter A wall hanging (as above).

2.  Gem Stones.  I made these here back in February.  It's time to figure out how to quilt these four wall hangings.

3.  Zipper Pouches.  I bought three zipper pouch kits from Connecting Threads a year ago.  Time to buckle down and get them made.

4.  Slippers.  This is not a quilting project, but it's crafty.  It's been a long time since I've done some knitting, so I thought this pattern would be a quick and easy way to give it another try.  I wonder if I have any orange yarn....... 😃

I'm slowly making my way through my list of WIP's.  I have high hopes to get them all done before the end of 2017.

Help! The Squirrels Have Taken Over

I think I'm a fairly intelligent woman, with some common sense.  So how is it that I am sooooooooo easily distracted by a new project???  I have more than enough projects on the go, but yet in the past two weeks, I've felt the need to make two new items.

First up, a drawstring bag to hold my tap and jazz shoes.  The night before the first class, I decided I needed a bag...even though I probably have 40 (likely more) bags and totes in my house.  This is an awesome tutorial by In Color Order -- Lined Drawstring Bag.  You can purchase the pattern if you want a variety of sizes.

And then I decided I needed something new to hold the many cards from my wallet.  When my faithful wallet finally fell apart, I couldn't find anything that held everything.  So I've downsized to a simple wallet but needed something for all the cards.  I found the Mega Credit Card Wallet tutorial.

The wallets holds 38 cards.  The inner section holds 24 cards -- 6 cards on each of four sides.

And the two outer sides hold 7 cards each.

I may have sewn one of the fabric pieces wrong side out.  Oops.  But this was a good learning experience.  I think I'll make a few modifications for the final version that I will use.

Sandra @ Musings of a Menopausal Melon holds a monthly link up -- Drop Everything and Make It!

P.S.  I'm not going to tell you about the new pattern I bought....hours after telling a friend that I was NOT going to start any new projects.
