TGIFF - Coastal Pouch Swap

My quilt guild, Maritime Modern Quilt Guild, did a pouch swap with the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild.  The theme was coastal -- we're on the east coast of Canada and Vancouver on the west coast.

I choose the Inside-Outside Pouch by Aneela Hoey.  My first version of this pouch was made at Sewtopia Seattle in November 2019.

I turned these 2.5-inch HSTs into fish.  Fish and fishing are important to both coasts of Canada.

I paired the front and back fish panels with some Island Batik fabrics.

A great turtle and seaweed batik for the inside.

I hoped that the vinyl on the front would make it seem like the fish was in a fishbowl.

Just One Charm Pack Blog Hop - Charming Stripes

Have you seen the new book by Cheryl @ Meadow Mist Designs?  Just One Charm Pack Quilts has great projects to use up your precut stash.

Today is Day 6 on the blog hop.  If you haven't been following along, I encourage you to start at Day 1 to see all the great projects.

My project from the book is:  Charming Stripes.

This quilt finishes at 39 x 49 inches and doesn't take a lot of time to piece.

I paired a Benartex charm pack (Hot Basics by the Kanvas Studio) with Kona Kumquat and Silver.

I used three different free-motion quilting motifs:  boxy stipple in the background, wishbone in the orange stripes, and an all-over stipple in the print fabrics.

I used Aurifil thread:  2150 Pumpkin and 2600 Dove.  The colours blended in so well, but they give the quilt great texture.

This is great book, and I encourage you to grab one quickly.  You can get a signed copy from Cheryl's shop.

2021 Monthly Colour Challenge - July Block

It's time for the July block for the 2021 Monthly Color Challenge hosted by Jen @ Patterns by Jen.
Don't forget to sign up for the free monthly blocks here.

July's colour is green and is inspired by the lime.  I used Kona Spruce and Grass Green.

The centre is four small signature blocks.

Add in four larger signature blocks for the corners and some strip pieced side blocks...a 12-inch finished block.
