2024 Stay at Home Round Robin - Round 6

It's the final round for the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Gail @ Quilting Gail.

Round 6 was chosen by Kathleen @ Kathleen McMusing -- letters and/or numbers.

I added a 4-inch finished Kona Torch border, with Nightfall cornerstones.  I decided to take creative license, and my "letters" will be quilted into the border.

I still have a wavy border, which made the top end up being 57.5 inches.  I gained 1.5 inches from the designed 56-inch quilt but managed to steam/quilt it flat.

I had a quilting plan for the centre of the quilt, but didn't know what to quilt in the outer borders.  I ended up doing an all-over loop motif.  I was having a lot of thread issues over the weekend, to the point that I skipped several sections of quilting.  I'll have to go back and quilt those sections.

My "letters" are my name quilted in the bottom corner of the quilt.

Make sure you link up your round 6 with Kathleen before Sunday night to be entered in the prize giveaway.

The parade for finished quilt tops (quilted or not) will be March 18 hosted by Gail @ Quilting Gail

Project Quilting 15.4 - Hourglass

There are are only two more challenges for Season 15 of Project Quilting -- hosted by Kim @ Persimon Dreams and Trish @ Quilt Chicken.

The fourth theme was:  Hourglass.  I used some Kona scraps to make 6-inch mug rugs, which will be used as plant coasters.  It looks like both of my orchids are going to bloom again very soon.

This was another opportunity to practice free-motion quilting.  The stitches are not perfect, but the plants won't mind.  😊

2024 Stay at Home Round Robin - Round 5

There's just one more week for the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Gail @ Quilting Gail.

Round 5 was chosen by Gail @ Quilting Gail -- quilter's choice using 4.  The possibilities are endless - - 4 blocks, a 4-patch block, 4 colours.

I added a 4-inch finished Kona Nightfall border.

This is now measures 49.5 inches.

I realized on the last round that my border was a bit wavy despite my efforts to carefully measure to ensure I was adding the right length of border.  I took extra time for this round as well, but I still ended up with a wavy border.  I don't like unstitching, so I'm going to continue on and hope for the best.

Make sure you link up your round 5 with Gail before Sunday night to be entered in the prize giveaway.  Check back next week for the final round hosted by Kathleen.

TGIFF - Zippered Pouches

I made two zippered pouches this week.  I love the Open Wide Zippered Pouch pattern by Noodlehead.  I used a mini charm pack from Ruby Star Society to piece the exterior.

I made the yellow pouch for last week's Project Quilting.

My nieces are visiting this weekend so I decided to make a second pouch to give as gifts.

Now time to get a good night's sleep because we will be sledding tomorrow.  They have too much non-stop energy for this Auntie.

I'm linking up with:

Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday @ Quilting Gail
Can I Get a Whoop Whoop? @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict
Finished or Not Friday @ Alycia Quilts
Needle and Thread Thursday @ My Quilt Infatuation
Brag About Your Beauties @ From Bolt to Beauty
Friday Foto Fun @ Powered by Quilting

2024 Stay at Home Round Robin - Round 4

We've passed the halfway point for the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Gail @ Quilting Gail.

Round 4 was chosen by Brenda @ Songbird Designs -- square-in-square or on-point blocks.

I chose to make 4-inch finished square-in-square blocks in Kona Torch and white to match my centre square-in-square block.  These blocks are paper pieced.

I used the blocks as cornerstones with Kona Nightfall completing the border.

This is now 41.5 inches.

Make sure you link up your round 4 with Brenda before Sunday night to be entered in the prize giveaway.

2024 Stay at Home Round Robin - Round 3

Are you having fun with the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Gail @ Quilting Gail?  If you haven't been sewing along with us, there's still time to join in.

Round 3 was chosen by Emily @ The Darling Dogwood -- triangles.

I used the EZ Flying Geese ruler to make triangle units using Kona Torch and White.

I created a 4-inch finished triangle border .

I added cornerstones to complete the borders.  This now measures 32.5 inches.

Make sure you link up your round 3 with Emily before Sunday night to be entered in the prize giveaway.

2024 Monthly Colour Challenge - February Block

Are you sewing along with Jen @ Patterns by Jen for her annual Monthly Colour Challenge?  If you didn't sign up to receive the blocks by e-mail, you can download February's block here.

February's colour is orange.  My favourite colour!!    I used Kona Tangerine and Torch.

The first step is sewing a strip set.  I always press my seams open when sewing strip sets as I find I get better subcuts when the fabrics are nice and flat.  Premium Quilting and Crafting Spray is a new-to-me product that I love as it removes wrinkles; flattens seams; reduces stretch for point matching; and improves accuracy for cutting and sewing.

I like to chain piece units so they stay in the right order.

Four corner triangles to complete the block.

The finished 12-inch block.
