Friday Finish - Crazy Nine Patch

This is a quilt I completed back in the fall, but it was just gifted this week.

The tutorial can be found over at Jenny Allsorts.  I wanted to try a crazy nine-patch, as well as crazy diagonal quilting.

A few photos showing the quilting.

I was glad I tried the crazy quilting, but I don't think it's something that I will use very often.  It just didn't impress me.

My friend G was ecstatic to receive the quilt that she actually cried.  I feel so good when my gifts are so appreciated.  G recently had knee surgery so we had a little visit today.  Her backyard is so lush and lovely, so I took the time for a photo shoot.

  1. I was a little surprised to see this as a finish. Just like when I gifted Mme S-S's quilt, I remembered this one being finished long ago! It looks lovely with that green, green grass. I think the random lines might be more enjoyable to do on a smaller project. At least that's been the case for me!

  2. I think it looks great! The best part is your friend adored it and yes, it is the icing on the cake when they do! I love the quilting you did Anja...You rocked it!

  3. Such a lovely finish, Anja! Those crazy nine patches look like fun. That quilting is so straight! Did you mark those lines first?

  5. Very sweet, Anja. I know what you are saying about diagonal quilting, I am kind of ambivalent about it, but it does complement the funky angles on your nine patches. Glad your friend likes it, it is beautiful!

  6. Oh, that really is a lush backyard for a photo shoot. I think the quilting is pretty cool, a good compliment to the crazy 9-patch. Love that when a quilt is so very visibly appreciated. :-)
