Today is Day 1 of the blog hop showcasing some of the wonderful dog creations that have been in the works since September. I decided to make a baby quilt using Kona Bluebell for the background.
I didn't want to FMQ through all their cute little faces, so I used the walking foot to outline the faces. That was a lot of twisting and turning. Next time, I'm just going to quilt their faces and save myself the headache.

ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely finish Anja. Nice to see both size blocks in the same project. I am just quilting mine at the moment and have decided to go over there faces .... although trying to avoid their black eyes and noses!!

ReplyDeleteI love that you used both sizes for the quilt. It looks great. I'm doing the small version and I don't think I'll quilt the faces either. I don't use my walking foot for quilting much. I cheat and use my free motion ans there's less turning of the quilt needed

You don't need to quilt their faces or outline them. Just use a smaller FMQ pattern and quilt near the pups, but not on them. Or FMQ outline them. They turned out really well! A cute little puppy family!

ReplyDeleteI had the same thought when quilting, I didn't want to mess with their faces. One of my main focuses when quilting lately has been to slow down (which requires me to also plan ahead, I'm such a procrastinator) but when I do I am finding it a lot easier to work around things like the shape of the dog. Did you use a walking foot to go around the dogs or your FMQ foot?
