We have reached Round 4 of the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Gail @ Quilting Gail.
In case this is your first time reading about the SAHRR, this is a virtual round robin where you are the only quilter working on your project. You choose all of the fabrics and how you want to create each week's theme -- it's your quilt and you choose how you're going to create it.
There are seven bloggers participating, and each week, we will reveal our chosen theme. You then interpret the theme how you wish -- you decide the colours, the size of the border, etc. This is meant to be fun as we all sew along together. Since most of us are unable to gather to sew together with our sewing friends, this SAHRR is virtual way for us to sew together.
Round 4 is being hosted by Roseanne and Sue @ Home Sewn by Us - checkerboard. I pulled out my Kona Red and Black and started with some strip sets.
I need to stop consulting with Dena because although she has great ideas, they require a lot of work. LOL These 3.5-inch blocks took forever to piece.
I added a border of Kona Natural before adding the checkerboard round so I was starting with a 30.5 inch square to fit the 3.5 inch checkerboard blocks without any complicated math.
Dena's great idea was a vanishing checkerboard from top to bottom. I should have planned out the placement of the single squares before I began sewing, but I think I like how it looks.
Each week, there will be a linky party hosted by the blogger who designed that week's round.
