WIP Wednesday - Snowflake Shimmer Update

The Snowflake Shimmer QAL hosted by Yvonne @ Quilting Jetgirl is moving along quickly.

Here is my finished quilt top.

A closeup of the centre block.  I'm so glad I went with orange...this makes me happy.

I think I'm going to quilt with FMQ stars, but not sure what colour thread to use.

  1. Anja this is so...different and so YOU! I love it! Did you get any Essential thread in orange? What about a variegated one?

  2. The contrasting fabrics with the dark and light are fantastic! Well done! Congrats on getting the top finished! Would with be too difficult to match the tread with each fabric and colors as you quilt?

  3. The orange is great! Are you keeping it for yourself? Aurifil has a variegated thread that is mostly orange and yellow with some purple. #4648.

  6. What a beauty! I love that everyone is suggesting a variegated orange for the quilting. I can't wait to see what you decide!

  7. Help me....FMQ? I like your colors. I think I would use either the green or purple that is in your white blocks. I am leaning more towards green so it would pop!

  10. Love this! The orange was a great choice. I just finished mine last night and was surprised at how quickly a quilt this size sewed together.

  12. It turned out fantastic, not that I'm surprised! :) Love the contrast and the idea to fmq stars. Thread color is definitely a tough choice - you could go bold with an orange or try and blend in with your background. Depends how you're feeling when you sit down to quilt, right? ;)

  14. It turned out great, that orange just pops. As said before a variegated orange thread would be nice.
