August OMG - Isla Top

I have two goals for August's One Monthly Goal -- make my second Isla Top (one of my FAL Q3 goals) using my new serger and to finish July's OMG goal -- the quilt top is pieced, but it needs to be quilted.

I started with an easy part of the top, as I'm learning how to use my serger at the same time.  I definitey need to take a class at my LQS this fall.

Stay tuned.

  1. Sergers are so much fun for clothes! I bought mine at the sewing machine shop in New Mina's and took the free classes which were totally worth it. Good luck with your shirt!

  3. I am clueless when it comes to creating anything that isn't flat and quilted, so I will be following along in your adventure. Can't wait to see your finished top.

  4. Congrats on your new baby, I've never used a serger and as I don't make clothes I can happily admit I haven't a clue what I would do with one, it looks very complicated. I am sure you will soon be surging away on a wonderful learning curve of delight, good luck wth your goal.

  6. Good luck on both, the top and figuring out the serger.

  7. I confess I only really use my overlocker (that's what we call a serger here) to finish seams. It is a handy gadget to have.
If you want a fun 'play' project to make with it, I made a patchwork blanket with my overlocker a few years ago: https://grannymaudsgirl.wordpress.com/2012/11/13/free-motion-quilting-and-crochet/. I could send you my pattern if you like.
