WIP Wednesday - Quilt Along Updates

My fabric arrived for the Classic Meets Modern BOM hosted by Kelly @ My Quilt Infatuation. I went with my trusted Kona solids:  White, Steel, Turquoise, Berry, Pool, Parrot, and Royal.

The first January block is Star of Bethlehem -- measuring in at a huge 24.5 inches.  Very easy to piece, but time consuming.

The second January block is Antique Tile.  At only 12.5 inches, it pieced very quickly.

Progress continues on blocks for the Sewcial Bee Sampler.  Another sewing session with Sandra @ Musings of Menopausal Melon and Tish @ Tish's Adventure in Wonderland.  Dave @ The Quilt Engineer joins in when he has time.

Block 5 is called July Fourth.

12.5-inch block

Block 6 is The Seasons.

12.5-inch block

And Block 7 is Dove in the Window.

12.5-inch block

You can still join in with both quilt alongs if you're interested.

  1. is the Star of Bethlehem block also known as the Swoon Block - it looks so familiar and reminds me of that one

    1. Hi, Karen! Yes, the Star of Bethlehem is very similar to the Swoon pattern, or it is actually more accurate to say that the Swoon pattern is what made this very old block so well known. With the pinwheel center, and corner triangles, it is a bit different, but you're correct. The basic shape is the same.

  11. I love the colour choices for your BOM.
I look at block 6 and think: did they really need so many seams?

  15. I'm love Blues and greens together right now. Love the use of solids to make blocks look modern but definitely requires accurate piecing.
