TGIFF - Rock Candy Pillow

I finished hand quilting my Rock Candy pillow for the Journey to Nebula Skill Builder QAL.  It looks awesome, if I do say so myself.  LOL  It has already been gifted, and the recipient is happy.

I used #5 red perle cotton to do big stitch hand quilting.

I used #8 red perle cotton to attach the binding, with X's in the corners.  [pats self on the back]

It took many photos at different times of the day to capture the true colour of the black and white fabrics (and I'm still not sure I got it right.)

And here's the binding again because I think it's pretty awesome.

I think I'll be starting a collection of black and white fabrics so I can make this again.

  1. The big hand stitching is a beautiful finishing touch. There really is nothing like black and white with a touch of red for a really lovely color palette.

  2. Oh my heavens, what a beauty! The red perle cotton is perfect for this project. I'm so glad you didn't play it safe with thread color. And of course you need to collect more black and white fabric ... because you need a pillow just like this for yourself!
