TGIFF - July Goal Achieved

My July ALYOF goal was to finish a commissioned quilt.  Goal achieved!

I am very happy with the finished project, and so is the customer.

It was a birthday gift for her son, but she decided to give it to him early.  I understand the quilt has already been well loved this week.  I'd rather a quilt be so well loved that it falls apart than to sit in a closet for that "special" day.

So glad I solved the mystery of my long arm -- free-motion quilting works so much better now that the thread doesn't break every row of quilting.

My FMQ skills are improving.

  6. Yay to finishes! I agree quilts need to be loved...to the point of falling apart regardless! Having your customer love it is always a relief too!

  16. I totally agree about wanting the quilts to be used. I recently kind of had to bully my brother-in-law into using our household quilts when he was here as a house guest. He was basically telling me they were too nice to use. I had to point out that they were here, hanging in the family room, to be used! ;-) And also that we didn't have other blankets to offer him. I think he got the message. :-)

  18. It sounds like you've had a major success: you're happy, the client is happy, the quilt is loved, and your machine isn't torturing you. Perfect!
