I finally found some time to watch some of Creative Quilting with Your Walking Foot by Jacquie Gering. I learned a few things because I ended up with this.
I am a @Brave Quilter!!
The first several rounds were difficult and are a bit wonky.
Things got better once I started moving outward.
I am very happy with the result.

That created a really wonderful effect, Anja. I keep going back to that last photos and admiring the movement. Also, I love that you used a bright thread to really let the quilting be a design element.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a great job. Well done, worth the time it took - I often think (once a quilt is finished) that it's likely to last a few years, so my few hours are not so bad!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Anja! The middle is the most difficult! I never tried it with a quilt but my 27" Pillow cover was enough trouble when I started in the middle. The effect is gorgeous and worth the pain! Gorgeous quilt! Great job on the quilting!

ReplyDeleteI love it. The colors of the triangles and thread really work well together. The circular quilting is fantastic. Im taking her class too. I had a difficult time with quilting in a circle with a walking foot. She makes it look so easy.

ReplyDeleteYou nailed it, well done. The first few rounds are always the hardest, well I speak from the experience of two here :). You were so brave using a coloured thread, and it worked, It's perfect for the quilt.
ReplyDeleteSpiral quilting is quite scarey to start then the further out you go, the better it seems to get. Then finally, the end is in sight! I've done one quilt tis way, and want to do more, as I love the effect.

I do love all those nice curves with the sharp lines of the triangles. And spiral quilting with a walking foot is no small task. Congrats for the finish! It looks great.
ReplyDeletefunny enough, quilting in curves was something i was going to try to master this month, but the month wasn't long enough. Your circles are very fluid, a great job well done

ReplyDeleteQuilting swirls like that is not easy. What a Brave Quilter you were to try it. And the result, simply wow. I had the exact same reaction the first time I tried it though--next time make the spacing a bit wider so it doesn't take ten years. Ha! Love the bright quilting thread you chose--how it shines against those colors. Lovely finish!
ReplyDeleteAnja, I admire you. You are a #BraveQuilter for sure! I have seen the circular pattern done with the walking foot, and love it, but thought, "Another day." It seemed daunting, and I am not a very capable stitcher with it. I'm glad the class helped, and it's obvious how much you've improved from center to outside. Was part of it harder that it was such a tight circle, too? I'm curious.

What a great job you did - and completed your #bravequilter challenge and FAL finish to boot! I love the spiral quilting and whilst it may have been time consuming I really like the distance between the lines.
