April's block is called Diamond Path. Here's my version.
I forgot to take photos during the sewing process. Here is what one block looks like.
I wasn't sure about the orange with the teal, but now that's it's finished....I love it!!! It's a small finish around 25 inches -- a very small baby quilt for the stroller or laying on the floor. I think I'm going to bind it with orange.
And since I had so much fun with this one, I cut fabric to make a purple one. It's a great project for 2.5-inch strips.
This is a Year of the Stash 2016 project -- everything came from my stash.

I did my blocks out of stash too, but at the end struggled a bit to find enough blues.great with the orange, and I can see that the purple one will be stunning too.

I like your blocks, orange binding will be a nice finish. And oh! a new Diamond Path in purples. I'm currently doing 2 BOMs and hope to do all of them from my stash.

ReplyDeleteAnja, I went to Google and found a spiral stencil, it was only the first few rounds, as after that you can use the guide to get the right width between the rows. I pinned it onto the blocks, and the start of the spiral is not the centre, it is slightly to one side. I stitched without thread, then went over the holes with a marking pencil. I had to undo those first rounds, after the whole lot was done, as I had a little "jump" in one part. Some have suggested to do it with an open foot, rather than the walking foot, then change over. I didn't get any puckers at all, it all smoothed out as I went. I pinned it as I would a huge quilt, taped the backing to a wide desk, put the batting down, then pinned the top. This was another stunning pattern from Sandy, and the one I have liked the very best of all.
ReplyDeleteI really like this! The orange gives just the right amount of contrast. I know I've read so many quilting magazines that always say blue with "cheddar" goes well together....I guess they are right since your quilt is gorgeous with that pop of orange :)
