TGIFF - Déjà Vu Night Sky

Two weeks ago, I shared my yellow Night Sky wall hanging.  I liked it so much, I made another one...this one in purple.

Same quilting as the first one -- I wanted more practice with dot-to-dot quilting.  This projects features the following Kona colours:  Purple, Heliotrope, Lilac, Wisteria, and Black.

This is a Year of the Stash project -- all fabrics were in my stash, except a little bit of Kona Heliotrope that I "borrowed" from Jenn @ A Quarter Inch from the Edge.

This wall hanging is en route to its forever home.  A little gift to say thank you to a friend.

And another photo just because.

One Block Wonder Fun

You may recall from my Sunday Procrastination post earlier this month that Sandy @ Upstairs Hobby Room has been hosting a One Block Wonders BOM.

April's block is called Diamond Path.  Here's my version.

I forgot to take photos during the sewing process.  Here is what one block looks like.

I wasn't sure about the orange with the teal, but now that's it's finished....I love it!!!  It's a small finish around 25 inches -- a very small baby quilt for the stroller or laying on the floor.  I think I'm going to bind it with orange.

And since I had so much fun with this one, I cut fabric to make a purple one.  It's a great project for 2.5-inch strips.

This is a Year of the Stash 2016 project -- everything came from my stash.

TGIFF - Mini Pouches and Drawstring Bags

My addiction to zippered pouches and drawstring bags continues.  Karen from Ohio suggested a swap -- she would make mini drawstring bags for me if I made mini zippered pouches for her.  Deal!

I received these wonderful drawstring bags.  They are about 4 x 4 inches.

And Karen included a little thread catcher.  I love getting goodies in the mail.

Karen said that she likes blue, purple, pink, teal, and red.  This purple and red pouch is about 3 x 4 inches.

I managed most of her favourite colours in this mini that's about 4 x 6 inches.

I also included a larger blue pouch (5 x 9 inches).

Friday Finish - Magic with Bias Tape

On Monday, I gave a sneak peek of my January project for the Mighty Lucky Quilting Club.

I present my new wall hanging.

I tried three new things with this project:  bias tape, curved piecing, and flower FMQ.  Thanks to my friend Linda @ Scrapmaster for talking me off the ledge and then through the FMQ process.

And because the snow was there, a snow photo.

Stash Busting with the Stash Manifesto

Jenn @ A Quarter Inch from the Edge has declared that 2016 is The Year of the Stash.  She's created a Manifesto and has invited friends along for the journey.

Generally, my fabric purchases are limited due to lack of money -- no frivolous purchases just for fun.  But I've decided it's time to make a dent in my stash.  The price of fabric continues to increase, but my salary is not increasing, so I need to use my resources wisely (oops...that's my inner Girl Guide speaking).

My Manifesto:
  • Before commencing a new project, I will search through my stash to find suitable projects.  If I feel I need to make a purchase, I will ensure that the project is something that will make me happy and has a purpose.
  • I will purchase thread and batting as needed.
  • I will purchase fabric to make the Transparency quilt by Yvonne @ Quilting Jetgirl.  This is on my 2016 project list and the only project for which I do not have fabric.
  • I will purchase fabric if there is nothing suitable in my stash for Stash Bee 2016 and the Birthday Bonus Club.
  • I will allow myself reasonable purchases when visiting a new-to-me quilt shop

So embracing my new stash busting plan, I dug through my scraps to make a mini Open Wide Zippered Pouch by Anna @ Noodlehead.  I found mini instructions over at Stitched in Colour.

I needed a little pouch for my Wonderclips.

And oddly, I had several 6-inch zippers.  Not sure why.....

You'll see that they are only about 2 x 3 inches -- I can fit one 1,000-metre spool of thread, but not two.

I think I may have revived my addiction to zippered pouches.

I'm linking up with Scraptastic Tuesday hosted by She Can Quilt.  I'll have to add this linky party to my calendar.
