And we have come to the end of the Classic Meets Modern BOM hosted by Kelly @ My Quilt Infatuation.
It was a slow-paced QAL, with just two blocks per month -- there was no stress with trying to keep up.
I love the combination of Kona colours that I used (copied from Kelly's original version): White, Steel, Turquoise, Berry, Pool, Parrot, and Royal.
Now, as usual, the hardest part of the process -- deciding on a quilting plan and thread colour. I don't free-motion quilt on my domestic Singer because it doesn't like it. And my longarm (a Pfaff on a frame) only has a 6-inch quilting span. So I either use the walking foot or do crappy free-motion quiting on my Singer, or do an all-over design on the longarm.
The shelves for my closet in my sewing room are being installed tomorrow. I am so excited!! I hope to spend a good part of Saturday organizing my sewing room.

Love your quilt top! Quilting decisions at times come easily and other times you just have to wait for the quilt to tell you what it wants.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this quilt so much! You know I would totally vote for a custom quilting but the great thing with a quilt like this, it will look great no matter what you decided on.

ReplyDeleteI love how it came together, Anja, it is bright and fun! Congratulations on getting the top completed. I'm excited that your shelves are going in, too. :) As for a quilting motif, I'd probably opt for the longarm / all over design.
ReplyDeleteThis turned out great Anja! I think if it was mine, I’d do straight lines in the ditch around the bigger books to anchor it all, then hand quilt around the blocks. I hope you share you’re new shelving! Have fin organising your sewing gear!

ReplyDeleteThis is so striking with the solid colors and crisp white. I will be interested in seeing what you decide for quilting. My fallback when I can't decide is some kind of walking foot design (often with waves because I can't be depended on to keep lines straight) across big sections of the surface.
