Friday Finish - Teaching is Fun!

You may recall that I mentioned back in September that I would be teaching a class at my LQS.  It was awesome!  We had a great time over the four weeks.  There was frustration, laughter, and joy, and in the end, there were finished quilts.

I made a quilt as well so I could demonstrate all the steps as we went along.

They learned about pieced backs because I didn't have enough fabric.  LOL

This is Jayne's baby quilt.  She finished everything in class except hand stitching the binding.  It's so bright and cheerful.

This is Lorraine's lap quilt.  She, too, finished everything except hand stitching the binding.  It's hard to tell from the photo, but two of the prints have purple in them, so we went bold with a purple binding.

Heather also made a lap quilt.  She did some extra homework, so she finished the binding during our last class.  The colours don't come through as rich as they truly are.  That's a beautiful orange print.

And Darlene just kept adding pluses until she ran out of fabric and then added a border.  It ended up being a double quilt.  Pretty impressive for her first quilt.  She only needs to hand stitch the binding.

And finally Kat, with a lap quilt.  Kat works at the LQS and had to work during our third class.  So she's not quite finished...just a bit more quilting and then the binding.

Kat used her leftover squares to piece the back.  It's a reversible quilt.

I enjoyed sharing my love of quilting.  We had good discussions and just had a great time.  I've been asked to teach two more classes in the winter session starting in January.  So I need to put together two classes and create supply lists before the middle of November.  Panic...but I'm excited!

  3. Beautiful quilts! I think it would be fun to teach too, but I'm not sure if I have proven myself enough yet. I love that most all your students got all the way to the binding. And yes, congratulations on the class success and on getting to teach again!
