Finish Friday - Gravity Pillows

It's been seven months since I began the Gravity quilt journey.  Myra @ Busy Hands Quilts hosted the QAL, and you may recall my finished Gravity posted last month.

Myra added one more linkup:  the Gravity pillow.  Since I put so much work into making Gravity, I decided I needed matching pillows.


I tried a new tutorial for a hidden zippered back:  S.O.T.A.K. Handmade.  It's a great tutorial, and I think I'll be doing this from now on, instead of an envelope back.  Thanks to Lorna @ Sew Fresh Quilts for pointing me in the right direction.


I carried the quilting from Gravity over to the pillows.


Backing fabric is Flight Patterns by Tamara Kate for Michael Miller Fabrics.

    The pillows look fantastic, Anja. The fabric for the back is really fun, and how wonderful to have found a tutorial for a pillow closure that works well for you.

    Perfect backing! I'll have to try that tutorial as the one Julie made me is done that way and it does make for a nicer back, really. I always overlap my fabrics a LOT, but still.

    Love the pillows! I love that the quilting on them will match the quilt as well. I will have to check out the tutorial you used.

    The pillows are lovely and that backing fabric is perfect! I like side zippers on my pillow covers. They are almost invisible!

    They're beautiful! That's the second reference I've seen today to that pillow tutorial...I guess I'll have to give it a try on my next pillow :)

    Yay for matching pillows! Love the backing too. If ever I make a pillow, I shall try the hidden zipper back technique as well.
