Friday Finish - The Procrastination Is Over!

As you may remember, I have been procrastinating about quilting four quilt tops.  This week, I bit the bullet and got one done!!

This is Delight, a WIP from last month.  I decided to do FMQ loops.  I used the leftover fabric to make a scrappy binding.

It was so windy, and the quilt would not stay put.

As it was dancing in the wind, I captured a photo from the back.  It looks like stained glass.

I like FMQ loops!  I think this will work on one of the other tops sitting in the pile.  Hoping to find the time this weekend for another finish.

Here's a glimpse of the back.

This quilt does not have a home yet, but I'm so pleased with the quilting, I'm tempted to keep it for myself.

  1. I have swirly-loop envy! I tried this very FMQ pattern with a quilt top recently, but my loops weren't nearly as big and buoyant as yours so I wimped out and straight-line quilted instead. When quilting a top with an all-over FMQ pattern like that, how do you approach the task? Do you start in one corner and go wherever the pattern takes you? Do you take a certain chunk of the top and focus on that before moving on? Thanks in advance for your insight!

  2. Your loopy quilt pattern is great! I can never get my balance between loop number and size and the meandering part of the pattern right, yours looks wonderful.

  3. Love, love the quilt! The colors are beautiful and your piecing is fantastic. You do seem to have a knack with the loopy swirls or is it swirly loops? you know what I mean.

  4. I love loops (or loop-dee-doo's as I call them. Lol)! They are so versatile, definitely a good stitch to have up your sleeve. :) Your loops are so awesome and flowing, did you use a regular domestic machine or do you have a long arm?

  6. I love both shots on the clothesline, perfect for such a bright and happy quilt. The quilting looks great Anja; as for that wind, yes! Ours was mostly out of the west yesterday but man it had a northwind bite! Was this a pattern or did you sew it together out of your head?

  17. Nicely done. I do enjoy a good scrappy binding when the quilt contains lots of different fabrics.
