Throwback Thursday - December Edition

My friend Jenn @ A Quarter Inch from the Edge has been hosting Throwback Thursday for five months now.  It's been fun re-visiting past quilts.

I think I need to make a list of all the quilts I have made for my nephew.  Of the five months, three of the quilts have been for him.  I sure hope he remembers all this love when I need someone to care for me in my golden years.

The panel was cut up and sashing added.  Each panel features a different sport.

Baseball and basketball are the sports he plays.  Thankfully hockey was a short-lived experience -- the rink was too darn cold for my liking.

You can't see that I hand stitched around some of the elements in each of the panels.  This was definitely before I learned FMQ and stitching in the ditch was all that I knew.  But what was I thinking???  I hate hand quilting.  Clearly I must have been drunk or in a state of delirium.

The label says this was for Christmas 2008.

Stop by to see the other Throwback Thursday posts.  It's interesting to see how we have all evolved in our projects over the years.

  2. I don't think it was a state of delirium. Love has us do all kinds of things for people, and clearly you are putting love into every quilt and stitch you make him!

  4. Aww - so sweet. Kids really appreciate stuff like that - it has a lot of meaning in it. I know my niece used the pillow case I embroidered for her at age eight until she was 24!

  7. Anja, you practically made me LOL with your comments in this post. Your "Golden Years" indeed! You'll have to move in with Sister J to streamline things for Dear Nephew! I still can't believe how many quilts you've made for him. Thanks for linking up with Throwback Thursday @ A Quarter Inch from the Edge!
