This is a great tutorial by Jayne @ Twiggy and Opal. I'm going to keep this, but you probably already guessed that from all the orange (and yes, the backing is orange). It's hard to capture the true colours, but that's Kona Pear and Kumquat.
I attempted to free motion quilt pinwheels in all the orange squares. They definitely did not turn out how I envisioned. Definitely need more practice.
We have had little rain this summer, so the poor grass is suffering greatly, which doesn't make for great photos.

I love all those oranges against that blueish green. I'm starting to develop a love for this color combination. Congrats on another great finish! It sounds like you are going to have a crazy busy weekend, I think you deserve a nap on Sunday and maybe even a pizza.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired just reading that . I was going to quilt on Sunday morning , maybe I should exercise ! The kona pear and orange go so well together . And yes I did guess you were keeping this one
ReplyDeletepretty quilt - love the colors
ReplyDeleteThis color palette is a winner! And your pinwheels turned out great, give yourself some credit! :) Have fun at your races!
ReplyDeleteLove this. I love the pattern and the colors are great. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWow, good luck in the 5K races; running is *not* for me, but I do love walks (my goal is to walk 2,000 miles this year and it will be close). For the pinwheels, have you tried using a ruler? It helped my off angle lines when using a long arm immensely. Lovely finish, and now I'm wanting to go buy some Kona Pear - what a great color.
ReplyDeleteOh, it's beautiful. I love the colors you used.

ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteStriking colour combo! A nap I think is going to most definitely be in order. I could use one after just reading about the 5K runs.

Love it all....the colours, the quilting...everything.
ReplyDeleteTwo 5 km runs and Girl Guide training, and you predict a NAP? I would need resuscitation! And maybe wine. And chocolate. And a foot massage.
ReplyDelete(I can walk all day, but I have never managed to learn how to run.)
That Kona pear is gorgeous! I wish I had some of that, and maybe the real thing since I love pears! Actually I think I love every fruit or vegetable I've tried. But I'm much better at eating than at running. Wait, make that exercising of any kind. lol Okay, back to your lovely quilt. Those oranges really pop and I like your pinwheels. And while we're not supposed to photograph anything in dappled sunlight, my favorite picture is exactly that one!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt, the design and colors are great and the quilting is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a very cozy quilt! Despite the quilting in the squares not turning out like you envisioned, I think the texture looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great finish! Your quilting looks really nice, too!
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful finish, Anja! Gorgeous colours! I'm not a big fan of orange but this quilt makes me change my mind :)

ReplyDeleteYum! It makes me think of pie... Key Lime and then Creamsicles. Such a sweet finish! Um whoa? 5km at night and then do it again in the am? You're crazy woman. :-)
