Friday Finish For Me

Another finish for my Finish Along 2016 Q3 goals.  I've got two more weeks to finish the sixth and final project.  I need to make a decision on the quilting and get moving.

This is a great tutorial by Jayne @ Twiggy and Opal.  I'm going to keep this, but you probably already guessed that from all the orange (and yes, the backing is orange).  It's hard to capture the true colours, but that's Kona Pear and Kumquat.

I attempted to free motion quilt pinwheels in all the orange squares.  They definitely did not turn out how I envisioned.  Definitely need more practice.

We have had little rain this summer, so the poor grass is suffering greatly, which doesn't make for great photos.

Will you be spending the weekend quilting?  Unfortunately, I won't have time.  I have a 5K sunset race tonight and then a 5K sunrise race in the morning.  And then off to an all-day Girl Guide training.  I predict a nap in my future for Sunday.

  1. I love all those oranges against that blueish green. I'm starting to develop a love for this color combination. Congrats on another great finish! It sounds like you are going to have a crazy busy weekend, I think you deserve a nap on Sunday and maybe even a pizza.

  5. Wow, good luck in the 5K races; running is *not* for me, but I do love walks (my goal is to walk 2,000 miles this year and it will be close). For the pinwheels, have you tried using a ruler? It helped my off angle lines when using a long arm immensely. Lovely finish, and now I'm wanting to go buy some Kona Pear - what a great color.

  9. Striking colour combo! A nap I think is going to most definitely be in order. I could use one after just reading about the 5K runs.

  12. Two 5 km runs and Girl Guide training, and you predict a NAP? I would need resuscitation! And maybe wine. And chocolate. And a foot massage.
(I can walk all day, but I have never managed to learn how to run.)

  13. That Kona pear is gorgeous! I wish I had some of that, and maybe the real thing since I love pears! Actually I think I love every fruit or vegetable I've tried. But I'm much better at eating than at running. Wait, make that exercising of any kind. lol Okay, back to your lovely quilt. Those oranges really pop and I like your pinwheels. And while we're not supposed to photograph anything in dappled sunlight, my favorite picture is exactly that one!
