This is the Jawbreaker pattern by Jaybird Quilts. I used some Alison Glass prints. I had a 16-inch pillow form, so I skipped the borders.
I really don't like hand binding, although there are times when it is the best choice. I decided to use perle cotton and visible stitching. I think I like this. There may be more hand binding in my future.
When I started making this project, I didn't have a recipient in mind, but I do now. I really need to think about the recipient when I'm making a quilt -- I have far too many quilts in my house.
An all-over loop free-motion quilting in silver thread as I didn't want to distract from the prints.

The hand work to finish the binding looks great. I'm glad you came up with a good recipient for the pillow. I just gave away 3 quilts yesterday, and I have a stack of 8 more that I could easily part with... so I can relate to having too many quilts in my house. :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous! What a wonderful gift with happy thoughts built right in. I love hand quilting and binding especially with perle cottons. I usually make donation quilts and never know the recipient. I just am happy sewing up scraps.
ReplyDeleteA lovely bright and cheery cushion cover.
ReplyDeleteLovely cushion! Bright snd cheerful!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful!! Love the hand stitching with the perle cotton. Well done 😊😊😊👩🦳👩🦳
ReplyDeleteGorgeous finish and that is a cool way to do the binding! I am giving away more quilts these days too. Glad this pillow has found a good home.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful finish and the hand quilted binding was a good idea!
ReplyDeleteI really like the bright, happy colors of this pillow. The hand stitched binding looks great. I never thought of stitching binding that way. I'm sure the recipient will love it.
ReplyDeleteGreat job. I intended to do these, but may hop on the bus later. I love the colors and the binding. Great finish for Friday (now on to finish mine for next week).
ReplyDeletethis turned out so great - the binding is just a super nice frame to this!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cushion - such happy and bright colours! I also have a pile of quilts at home right now with no recipient in mind and it's starting to get a little bit out of hand. That's why I started making clothes - I can't stop sewing but nobody needs that many quilts! LOL By the way, where did you get that cute label?
ReplyDeleteI am so tempted to just steal it... Absolutely gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteA very bright and pretty pillow! Thanks for linking up last week to TGIFF, sorry so late in making my rounds.
