We have reached Round 4 of the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) hosted by Gail @ Quilting Gail.
In case this is your first time reading about the SAHRR, this is a virtual round robin where you are the only quilter working on your project. You choose all of the fabrics and how you want to create each week's theme -- it's your quilt and you choose how you're going to create it.
There are seven bloggers participating, and each week, we will reveal our chosen theme. You then interpret the theme how you wish -- you decide the colours, the size of the border, etc. This is meant to be fun as we all sew along together. Since most of us are unable to gather to sew together with our sewing friends, this SAHRR is virtual way for us to sew together.
Round 4 is being hosted by Roseanne and Sue @ Home Sewn by Us - checkerboard. I pulled out my Kona Red and Black and started with some strip sets.
I need to stop consulting with Dena because although she has great ideas, they require a lot of work. LOL These 3.5-inch blocks took forever to piece.
I added a border of Kona Natural before adding the checkerboard round so I was starting with a 30.5 inch square to fit the 3.5 inch checkerboard blocks without any complicated math.
Dena's great idea was a vanishing checkerboard from top to bottom. I should have planned out the placement of the single squares before I began sewing, but I think I like how it looks.
Anja, what a cool interpretation of the checkerboard prompt. I love it!!
ReplyDeleteWow! I love the look of the solid checkerboard and the disappearing checkerboard is so fun! What a fun concept. Looks great, and the red is so dynamic.
ReplyDeleteStriking! I really like how this checkerboard fades away halfway down - great idea!
ReplyDeleteThat vanishing checkerboard idea is very clever. I'm having trouble deciding how I want mine to look. But I love getting inspiration from the various gals so far.
ReplyDeleteThis is so clever! I love it, Anja!
ReplyDeleteSew unique! Wonderful way to modernize the old school checkerboard ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteThis is a great change from the norm. Love it 😍!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! So cool. Your round is the best.
ReplyDeleteI love the disappearing checkerboard effect! Your quilt looks great so far :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so great! It really is a stunning interpretation of a round robin!
ReplyDeleteI can come with these ideas because you have to do the work, lol. It really does look great!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this border! Keep consulting Dena she has some wonderful ideas.
ReplyDeleteThere is some great design work going on in your space! It’s amazing! I wouldn’t even think of it, let alone execute it! I’m truly blown away!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the creativity in this one--esp the way the checker border fades away. (I'm learning so many new ideas!) The purple one might be my fav. Wow!
ReplyDeleteHi Anja! Love, love, LOVE your traditional colors for your checkerboard 9-patch blocks. It makes me want to sit right down and play a round or two. Even better is pulling it around the corner and then vanishing! SO cool and cute. Love everything about it. I just can't wait to see your next rounds. Thanks for linking up! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteI love what you are doing with the 9-patches!
ReplyDeleteAnja that disappearing checkerboard is just perfect. I think you should keep consulting Dena if this is the way she challenges you to create something new. 😉
ReplyDeleteSquares dropping from your checkerboard border it SEW inventive, Anja!
