TGIFF - Stash Bee HST Quilt

Welcome to Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday being hosted here on the East Coast of Canada.  We have lots of snow here in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; however, the temperatures have been very mild this week.

This finish is my February OMG goal.  It's about 54-inches square.  I had to wade through knee-high deep snow to get these photos.

I had planned to do something different with the quilting, perhaps some dot-to-dot quilting, but I couldn't figure out what to do.  As I was searching online, I came across this triangle all-over quilting motif.  I have done a similar box motif here -- which coincidentally, was my February 2016 OMG goal.

I finally gave in and used my IKEA Nummers fabric which I have been hoarding.

This is also one of my FAL 2017 Q1 goals.

February's One Monthly Goal

Time to link up with Patty @ Elm Street Quilts for February's One Monthly Goal.

And it's time to get my Stash Bee 2016 HST quilt finished. The snow is back....sigh....

I'm not sure how to quilt this.  I don't want to do an all-over quilting motif.  Any suggestions?

The wind picked up and started blowing the quilt around.  Spring can't get here fast enough.

WIP Wednesday - Stash Bee Blocks

You may remember my Stash Bee blocks that I shared back in October.  I made some additional blocks and now have a finished quilt top.

I love those pops of orange.

I'm not sure how I'm going to quilt it, but thinking maybe curves or loops in grey thread.  But I have some time to think about it as it's currently on display at my LQS for the class on HST's I'm teaching in January.

I can't wait to cuddle under this quilt.

I was so happy that all the snow melted this week, but I'm sure it will be short lived.  ðŸ˜¢

WIP Wednesday - Stash Bee Blocks

This year, I joined Stash Bee 2016.  If you're interested, you can sign up for Stash Bee 2017 starting November 1.

I was Queen Bee for September and requested an HST block using white, grey, black, and one orange.  I used the following Kona colours in the block I made:  Iron, Coal, Silver, Pepper, White, Charcoal, Shadow, and Tangerine.

Here is a close up of six of the blocks.  Great shades of orange.  Thanks to all my hive mates.

One hive mate sent me two blocks, and I'm waiting on two more blocks to arrive in the mail.  On the advice of Dena @ No Frickin' Blog Yet, I think I'm going to make another four blocks so it ends up being square.

This is probably not the final layout, but I just love it!!  I'm going to leave it on my design wall so I can look at it every day.

Time to start making more blocks.  I'm excited to get this top all pieced together.

I hope you're all working on something fun this week.

Scraptastic Tuesday

Although I desperately need to organize my scrap bag because I can't find anything, I managed to find some fabrics to make two blocks.

I'm participating in Stash Bee for 2016.  Cyndi was Queen Bee for Hive 7 in January, and she asked for a Scrappy Diamond Block.  All simple HST's.

I also decided to make the Aurifil January block designed by Heather Valentine -- again all from my scrap bag.  I found it hard to follow the pattern and lay out the pieces in the right order -- all pieces the same size were labelled the same letter, even though they were all different fabrics.  Confusing.
