Progress has been slow on my Temperature Quilt 2019 -- 1-inch EPP hexies. The months January to September are all pieced together, but not yet pieced to each other. I thought I was doing a good job piecing each month separately, but now it's cumbersome to sew the long sections together.
I'm currently working on October to December, but I'm attempting to piece from left to right. That meant digging out a small table to lay out all the pieces in the correct order. We'll see if this makes piecing easier.
I haven't linked up with One Monthly Goal for the past few months -- I keep forgetting to link up at the first of the time by the deadline. If you don't know about OMG, head over to Elm Street Quilts for the details. My January goal is to get my Temperature Quilt pieced.
My list of WIPs includes 12 quilts that need to be quilted. Even though they are not finished projects, I don't consider them to be true WIPs because the piecing is all done. 😊
I did not finish my Summer Sampler 2019 blocks. I still have the last 7 blocks (out of 21) to piece.
And I have three extremely old WIPs:
- Stellar Stars BOM - This was a 2018 Block of the Month hosted by Purple Daisies Quilting. I still have several blocks to piece, but I need to buy more of the background fabric. I was fortunate enough to win both the pattern and the monthly fabric kits, but there wasn't enough Art Gallery Snow included to finish all the blocks.
- Sewcial Bee Sampler Sew Along - This was a block of the week Sew Along from 2017, but I didn't start making the blocks until 2018. I think I have half of the blocks made. I just need to focus and get the rest of the blocks pieced.
- Milky Way Sampler - This was a 2017 Quilt Along hosted by Blossom Heart Quilts. It was easy to let this one slide because it's all paper pieced blocks. But now that I am more comfortable with paper piecing, I'm going to try my best to make progress on this WIP.
Here's to a productive 2020.

I hope that you find that piecing the months together starts to get easier the more you do, Anja! I've always been a bit curious about how to make it work well having never done it myself.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I'd seen it as a crochet blanket, but not as a quilt. I look forward to seeing your quilt :)
ReplyDeleteI love hexies and I love reading about and watching temperature quilts evolve. THanks for sharing. P.S. I love hexies but I don't love sewing them ha ha.
ReplyDeleteThe temperature quilt is going to be so pretty. I have not attempted sewing hexies yet.
ReplyDeleteI am curious as to what background you are using to finish the temperature rows and look forward to seeing it progress.
ReplyDeleteInteresting piece in the way it will look overall, Anja. Perfect little hexies. May 2020 be the most marvelous year for you!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. Love the colors you are using. Good luck on your WIPs. I need to make a list as well.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! Looks like tedious job :)
ReplyDeleteYou're Temperature quilt is coming along nicely, though I can see how it's getting cumbersome to sew. Wish I could help you out with a solution, but I'm at a loss. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWow great work
ReplyDeleteYour temperature quilt is coming along very nicely. Just take your time, and it will continue to grow! My daughter pointed out to me that people are crocheting temperature blankets! I had no idea. Good luck, not only accomplishing your OMG, but all of your WIPs and quiltng adventures!
ReplyDeleteI love your temperature quilt, I can't wait to see it all together.
ReplyDeleteI like your temperature quilt and I think you have a good plan of attack. I am gobsmacked (ha) that you have only 3 true WIPs! One of them we should work on together again... ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Looking forward to seeing your temp quilt come together!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck with your project.
ReplyDeleteKeep going. You are so close. You can do it. I am rooting for you!!! And it will be a spectacular finish totally worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great quilt this is going to be! If it helps, I'm not sure if there is one right way to sew together hexies. I think you'll do fine whichever method you end up using! Thanks for linking up your goals to Wednesday Wait Loss.
