Throwback Thursday - Snowman Wall Hanging

It's Throwback Thursday!!  Head over to A Quarter Inch from the Edge to see all the TBT projects.

My January Throwback Thursday was my Christmas post because I forgot I had a Christmas quilt for the December link up.  And when I found that Christmas Tree, I also found my Snowman wall hanging.

This was my first attempt at applique and also my first project that I had to cut up into pieces.  Once the snowmen are appliqued down, you cut the project into four pieces and add the window sashing.  It was difficult to make that first cut.

I love these guys.   I think it's time to make a modern version.

What projects do you have in your Throwback Thursday tickle trunk?

  3. Very sweet! I hear you about making a cut, that took some nerve didn't it? A modern version would look good too.

  4. Ack... I wouldn't have been able to cut them up, though it is an ingenious way to make a quilt. I think you should make one in Konas... or low volume snowmen! Thanks for linking up with Throwback Thursday @ A Quarter Inch from the Edge!

  5. Wow - I was wondering how you got them appliqued down and so nicely framed. I bet cutting it up was hard!

  7. This is too cute. I'll admit my first thought before I started reading was, wow, how did she get everything to line up so perfect. I would have never guessed you applique everything then cut it into four pieces...very cool.

  8. You cut them? I would still be thinking about that, lol. They would look great in modern printed or Konas.

  9. Love those guys too! Were they in a McCalls Quilting magazine? Or the Christmas ones that Quilter's Newsletter used to do? So familiar. Yours are adorable. I like them as is, nvm modernizing.

  14. It would be really difficult to make that first cut! I would have been tempted to applique the window sashing down on top to avoid cutting!
